Na'am - Arab Women in the Center

Na’am, meaning both Arab Women in the Center and Yes We Can in Arabic, embodies its name by empowering women to stand against discrimination, gender-based violence, and injustice. Founded in 2009 by social worker Samah Salaime to combat femicide, Na’am supports women in Lod, Ramla, and Yaffo—cities with unique social and economic challenges.

Half of all femicides in Israel occur in the Arab sector, with Lod and Ramla accounting for a disproportionate number. Shockingly, 80% of perpetrators go unpunished. Despite operating on a small budget with mostly volunteers, Na’am provides legal aid, education, and support groups while advocating for women’s rights and financial independence.

Beyond individual assistance, the organization collaborates with local and international groups to combat early marriage, polygamy, and systemic violence, striving for a future where women and men are equal partners, and every voice is heard.
