Mamuta Projects
The Mamuta Project is a center for artistic creation, encounters, research, and art exhibition in Jerusalem. The center is comprised of artists’ workspaces; video, sound and electronics labs; and a wood, metal and plastics workshop. Developed and directed by Sala-Manca , an independent Jerusalem-based artists group, the project is dedicated to creating conditions for developing an active community of artists and allowing for personal development alongside collaborative work.
One of Mamuta’s projects is The Museum for Contemporary (MOFC), a fictive space which deals with the connections between contemporary art, Israeli Art Museology and Israeli and Palestinian history, topography and territorial politics. The Museum, an art project in itself, opened its door in the beginning of 2012 in the former Palestinian village of Ein Karem, which is today one of Jerusalem’s many neighborhoods.
